Some members of the extensive family of the late Dolores Porras and her late husband, Alfredo Regino Ramírez, produce excellent examples of the style their parents innovated: a two-step firing process resulting in multiple colors for decorating planters, vases, candleholders and platters. Pieces are boldly decorated with flowers, mermaids, human faces, iguanas, fish and birds, both painted and in relief.  During their many productive years, Dolores also created muñecas (female figures) and mermaids decorated with pastillaje (clay detail super-imposed on the figure) in both terracotta and multi-tones, although the vast majority of her pieces were not figural.

Aurelia Regino Porras creates excellent quality multicolor and terracotta ceramics with a variety of decorative elements, often in combination: pastillaje, cut-outs and painted patterns.  A thoughtful, articulate woman, she is exacting and methodical in her work, producing outstanding pieces of this type along with her husband and their children.  Her workshop is in her own home on the main road leading into Santa María Atzompa, and across the street from her brother Norberto and sister-in-law Rosy (below).  She and her husband, who, like her, also make green glazed pottery, have developed their own designs in multi-colored glazed ceramics.

Norberto and his wife, Rosa Elena García López (Rosy), live and work on the main road in Santa María Atzompa. Their attractive multicolored casseroles, flowerpots, vases and jugs are produced primarily for local use, given their practical nature and their heavy weight.  Some have elaborate cutouts and others are engraved and then painted with bold or subtle flowers.  Norberto and Rosy each produce their own pieces in the style of Norberto’s mother, adding their own elements; they collaborate in producing large jugs.
